CLASSIFICATION OF CITIZENSHIP IN KHASI POLITY:
(i).”Khun-U-Hajar”
means any person belonging to the Khasi Community, born
of a Khasi mother and father or non-Khasi father (In case of
a non-Khasi father, he should have embraced Khasi culture
and followed continuously customs and usages like Durbar
Hima, Durbar Raid, Durbar Shnong, Durbar Kur, settlement of
disputes, administration of village affairs, etc and lived
like a Khasi), who is a native of that particular Hima/Elaka
he lives in.
(ii).
”Khun-Soh-Shnong” means U Khun-U-Hajar who migrated
from one village and settled in another village within the
same Hima/Elaka who has been recognized as such by the
Village Durbar presently he/she lives in.
(iii).
”Khun-Soh-Syiem” means a person belonging to the
Khasi Community, born of a Khasi mother and father or
non-Khasi father, who migrated from one Hima or Elaka or
part of India or part of the world duly permitted and lives
in another Hima/Elaka and pays allegiance to the Chief and
his Durbar and consistently followed the custom and the
administrative system in vogue in the that Hima/Elaka he
lives in and recognized as such by the Village Durbar and
the Executive Durbar/Durbar Hima.
(iv).
“Khun-Kliar-Wait” means any person belonging to Khasi
Community, born of a Khasi mother and father or non-Khasi
father, who has been defeated during war time and has been
subjected and annexed to and pays allegiance to the Chief
and the Durbar of a particular Hima/Elakar.
(v).
“Bar Hima” means any person belonging to the Khasi
Community, born of a Khasi mother and father or non-Khasi
father (In case of a non-Khasi father, he should have
embraced Khasi culture and followed continuously customs and
usages like Durbar Hima, Durbar Raid, Durbar Shnong, Durbar
Kur, settlement of disputes, administration of village
affairs, etc and lived like a Khasi), who is a native of the
other Hima/Elaka.
